Bulgarian car sales ended the 2017 with a strong performance, up 19.8% from the previous year, thanks to the positive economic environment. Dacia is market leader but Koreans are gaining spaces, with Kia star of the year, up 123%.
Bulgarian economy appears to have lost some steam in the final quarter of the year. Growth in industrial production moderated in year-on-year terms in the first two months of Q4, and the unemployment rate edged up throughout the quarter, after declining in the first three quarters. Survey-based business and consumer confidence dipped in December as consumers’ assessments of current and future economic conditions deteriorated.
Bulgarian vehicles market in recent years has moderately recovered from the huge fall reported in the 2009. Market is improving since the 2013 and the 2017 will be the best in the last 5 years. Indeed, according to data reported by the Bulgarian Minister of Transportation, total light vehicles sales in the 2017 have been 37.435, up 19.8% from the previous year.
At brand-wise, market leader was Dacia with 4.287 sales (+9.5%) and 11.5% of market share.
In second place Renault with 3.978 units (+5.3%) followed by Toyota with 2.980 (+10.6%), Kia with 2.965 (+123%), Skoda with 2.868 (-2.8%), Peugeot with 2.502 (+27.5%), Ford with 2.3151 (+7.3%), Volkswagen with 2.316 (-6.5%) and Nissan with 2.118 (+11.1%).
