World car market in 2019 ended at 85 million units, down 4.2% from the previous year. In this report we update on the ranking of Global Top markets.

World Light Vehicles sales aggregated by manufacturer group were dominated by three groups. In 2019 Volkswagen hit the record share of 12.2% while Toyota Groups overtook the Renault-Nissan Alliance, holding respectively 11.4% and 10.9% of share. The marriage between PSA and FCA will create the 5th group, as they ended the year with 8.8% of aggregated market share.

World Cars Brand Ranking in 2019 with Toyota and Volkswagen on top of the list and Ford, still in the podium despite at the lowest market share in the last 30 years. Behind, Honda has grown fast, hitting a new record sales with share at 5.5%, just 0.1 points far from Ford. Mercedes & BMW among the few brands in positive track.

World car market in 2018 lost 1.1% from the previous year, with total sales at 88.9 million. Out of the 150 markets we cover with data by brand and model, the ranking of Top 50 Markets shows all changes year over year.

World Best Selling MPV ranking in the 2018 was dominated by the Chinese Wuling Hongguang despite losing 10.5%. However, the rest of the podium changed from the previous year thanks to the success of the Honda Odyssey, second, and the Dodge Gran Caravan, third.

World Best Selling Compact Cars segment in the 2018 fell down 7.8% with 14.1 million global sales. On top of the list the Toyota Corolla, as usual, followed by the Honda Civic and the Volkswagen Golf.

World Best Selling Coupe in the 2018 has been again the Ford Mustang with a wide gap over two Dodge models, the Charger and the Challenger. The segment contracted 4.6% confirming the last years' trend. FCA group is the leader among manufacturers.

World Best Selling Mid Size Cars in the 2018 declined by 4.6% at 9.9 million units. The Toyota Camry held the top of the list, keeping a safe gap from the Honda Accord and the Volkswagen Lavida. The Nissan Sylphy gained the 4th postion, up 18.5%.

World Best Selling Pick Up ranking in the 2018 led again by large American style models, while the best compact pickup is the "king of the desert", the Toyota Hilux. Impressive performances were registered by the Toyota Tacoma and the Chevrolet Colorado, joining into the Top 10.

Sport Utility Segment grew up 69% in last 5 years and Toyota, Nissan & Honda are the best brands in the segment. However, Nissan-Renault are the best-selling manufacturers. In the 2018, the best-selling model was the Toyota RAV4 for the second year in a row.
