New Zealand vehicles sales in 2019 were still on a negative pathway, despite declining slower than in 2018. Indeed, Total sales 2019 new light vehicles sales were 154.406 (-4.7%). Mitsubishi gained the podium, overtaking the historic Australian brand Holden.

In 2014 New Zealand Vehicles Market hit the New All-time record sales, entering in the Top 50 Global car market ranking. After 32 years, Toyota Hilux lost LCVs leadership overtaken by the Ford Rangers.

New Zealand vehicles sales hit in the 2018 the 5th all time record in a row with 169.786 sales, up1.8%. The market was sustained by a still growing economy and should keep the pace in the 2019. The leader Toyota gained 17.8% of share while Honda was the fastest brand, up 16%.

New Zealand Best Selling Car Ranking in 2025. The Toyota RAV4 climbed 1 spot in 1st, overtaking the Ford Ranger which fell into 2nd. The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross surged 199.2% into 4th while the Honda Jazz dropped 58.5% into 35th.
