Finland 2014. Auto market is not taking off after the crisis

Finnish Automotive Industry in the 2014 stands down waiting for recovering demand posting the third worse performance in the decade raising only 2 percent from the already negative 2013. Skoda Octavia rushed ahead of Volkswagen Golf.

In December 2014 according to data released by The Finnish Information Centre of Automobile Sector, total new Car Passengers Vehicles sold have been 7.058, up an amazing 19.2% from the correspondent month last year.

Full Year 2014 sales have been 106.077, up 2.5% from the previous year. Last year was the third worse in the last decade.

In December Toyota was leader just for few units and improving 74.2% sales from the correspondent month last year. However it was not enough to win the final rush. Indeed, in the full year the Japanese was only second, losing the supremacy in favor of the rival Volkswagen.

The third step of the podium was for Skoda (both in December than in the year) ahead of Volvo.

Very strong performances had been posted by Mercedes (5th with 520 units, +53.8%), BMW (7th with 465 sales, +49.5%), Renault (10th with 297 sales, +336.8%), Seat (15th with 159 units, +178.9%), Dacia (17th with 127 sales, +337.9%) and others smaller players.

Looking at the Car Groups performance and ranking, Volkswagen Group led with 29.5% of share, ahead of Toyota group at 12.1% and Hyundai-Kia at 9.0%.

As far as best-selling models performance and ranking, the leader was the Skoda Octavia with 334 units followed by Mercedes C Class with 277 and Volkswagen Golf with 268.
