Poland Vehicles Market in 2015 reported a strong increase keeping the 28th place globally. Fueled by robust GDP growth the market was one of the most dynamic in Europe, Skoda is the leader ahead of Toyota.

Economic Environment

Poland has recorded robust GDP growth so far in 2015 thanks to solid domestic demand. Industrial production has reflected this, posting a sharp 7.8% increase in November. Meanwhile, Poland’s new conservative government has drawn criticism from international bodies, as legislation that was recently put forward has worked to consolidate power in the hands of the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party.

The government has pushed controversial reforms that modify the way the constitutional court, public media, the Central Bank, and the anti-corruption agency function so that the government has more control over such institutions. Eight of the 10 members of the Central Bank’s policy council are set to be replaced this month by parliament, raising concerns over the Bank’s independence.

Market Outlook

Q4 2015 was reported really strong thanks both  to fleet and private consumer’s sales supporting the end of a great year for the Polish automotive industry. November and December sales boomed 24.9% and 26.0% respectively.

According to data release by SAMAR, the local association of car distributors, in the full year 2015 light vehicles sales had been 414.793 (+9.7%), including 354.972 car passenger’s, up 8.3% and 59.821, up 18.3%. In the year this market ranked as World’s 28th, behind Taiwan and ahead of Sweden.

In the car passenger’s market, the best-selling brand was again Skoda with 44.438 sales (+3.0%) ahead of Toyota with 35.648 (+16.1%), Volkswagen with 35.545 (+12.1%), Opel with 29.297 (+11.1%), Ford with 25.546 (+9.9%) and Kia with 17.618 (+12.9%).

Skoda Octavia confirmed its place as best-selling model with 14.199 registrations (+1.5%) followed by the Skoda Fabia with 12.388 (+20.6%), the Volkswagen Golf with 11.629 (+26.6%), the Opel Astra at 10.639 (+20.9%) and the Toyota Yaris with 9.990 (+21.8%).
