China Best Selling Cars Ranking in 2024 sees the BYD SONG moving up 2 spots to take 1st, followed by the Tesla Model Y in 2nd and the BYD Qin Plus in 3rd. The BYD Seagull climbed 7 spots into 4th while the Volkswagen Passat rose 11 spots into 10th.
As reported in a dedicated post on the Chinese Market, it grew 3.8% in yer-on-year sales maintaining the momentum gained in the prior years. Total sales reached 23.26 million units, of which EV’s hold 30%.
Considering cumulative data from 2024, the best-selling model was the BYD Song -up 2 spot- from Chinese manufacturer BYD, which secured the top spot with 574,351 sales (+45.3%).
The Tesla Model Y ranked in 2nd with 480,309 sales (+5.2%), followed by the BYD Qin Plus -down 1 spot- in 3rd with 480,025 sales (+10.6%). The BYD Seagull -up 7 spots- made a surprising leap to 4th place with 453,593 cumulative registrations (+89.6%).
The Nissan Sylphy -down 1 spot- ranked 5th with 342,395 (-9.5%), ahead of the Volkswagen Lavida -down 1 spot- with 322,933 (-6.6%), the Toyota Corolla -down 1 spot- with 282,433 (-13.5%) and the BYD Yuan Plus -down 1 spot- with 275,223 (-11.2%)
Wuling Hongguang Mini EV -up 3 spots- ranked in 9th with 261,141 registrations (+9.8%) followed in 10th place by the Volkswagen Passat -up 11 spots- with 254,103 (+25.4%).
