Australian Vehicles Market closed 2023 with a total of 1.18 million units sold (+12.7%). Sales in December grew for the 11th month this year, reporting 94,962 new registrations (+12.5%).

The Australian Vehicles Market in 2023 closed at 1.18 million sales, a 12.7% growth from 2022. The positive trend observed during the year continued through December, which marked the 11th monthly growth of 2023 with 94,962 new registrations (+12.5%) . 

Looking at cumulative from 2023, brand-wise Toyota reports the most sales at 215,240 (-6.8%), followed by Mazda at 100,008 (+4.5%), Ford -up 3 spots- at 87,800 (+31.8%) and Kia at 76,120 sales (-2.8%).

Hyundai maintains 5th position with 75,183 sales (+2.5%), in front of Mitsubishi -down 2 spots- at 63,511 (-17.5%) and MG with 58,346 registrations (+17.7%).

Tesla jumps 8 spots into 8th with 46,116 sales (+135.4%), followed by Subaru -down 1 spot- at 46,114 (+28.0%) and Isuzu -down 1 spot- in 10th with 45,341 new registrations (+28.4%).

Looking at specific models the Ford Ranger is the best selling car having gained 1 spot (+33.4). The Toyota Hilux loses first place with a 5.1% loss in year-on-year registrations.
