Germany best selling cars 2016 ranking celebrates the 42nd year of Volkswagen Golf leadership with the top 27 models made in Germany or produced by a German Company.

Germany Auto market in 2021 falls by 10.1% with 2.62 million sales, reporting a very severe drop in the second half after a positive Q2. Mercedes reports the worst performance on the leaderboard, losing 25.7%.

Germany best selling cars ranking 2015 was dominated by the Volkswagen Golf, leader for the 40th consecutive year with market share record at 9.0% and over 5 points of share gap on the group of followers.

Germany best selling cars 2017 ranking was dominated for the 42nd year in a row by the Volkswagen Golf, despite losing in double-digit. The last generation Tiguan advanced in second place while Audi Q2 was the best new entrance.

German Auto Market in 2025 keeps contracting. Sales up to April dropped 3.3%. EV sales defied broader downturn and rose 34.4% with Cupra surging into 2nd with the strongest performance among Top 10 brands. 

Germany Best Selling Cars Ranking in 2025 confirmed Volkswagen dominance over the podium, as well as reporting the best performance with the ID.7 in 10th. The BMW X1 and the BMW 5 Series also posted notable gains.

The Ford Focus kept recovering hitting the best share out of the last 8 years.

German Auto 2016 moderately positive albeit the leader Volkswagen has lost sales. The Automotive sector is still pulling the German economy up. Infiniti was the best performer brand.

Germany best selling cars ranking in 2018 was dominated for the 43rd year by the Volkswagen Golf with a wide gap over Tiguan, Polo and Passat. The new entry Volkswagen T-Roc ranks 25th, while the Mini gains the 9th position.
