Europe Best selling Vehicle Brand 2016 ranking dominated by Volkswagen in a market up 4.9%. Strong performers had been Renault (second) Mercedes (sixth) and Fiat (seventh).
After the moderate recovery scored in the previous two years, the European (EU plus EFTA countries) car passengers market kept recovering in the 2016, posting the third increase in a string with 14.94 million sales, up 5.2%. The light commercial vehicles industry figures at 1.97 million was up 11.1%.
While looking at the entire European continent, including all countries in the East, with Russia, Turkey and Ukraine among the others smaller, the European light vehicles market stand at 19.5 million units, up 4.9%.
The best-selling brand in this “large” Europe, as total cars plus lcvs vehicles sales unchanged in the 2016 and was the German Volkswagen with 2.2 million sales (+0.6%) followed by Renault with 1.61 million (+10.0%) and Ford with 1.46 million (+2.0%).
In fourth place Opel/Vauxall with 1.14 million units (+4.6%) followed by Peugeot with 1.09 million (+2.8%), Mercedes with 1.059.000 (+11.1%), Fiat with 1.025.000 (+9.9%), Audi with 878.000 (+7.5%), BMW with 878.000 (+8.7%) and in 10th place Toyota with 801.000 (+3.0%).
