Mauritius’s Auto market in 2021 reported 8,875 sales, a 14.1% increase from the prior year. Toyota surges 22.2% and maintains17.6% market share.

Mauritius’s vehicle market in 2021 reported 8,875 sales, a 14.1% increase from 2020. The strong momentum in Q1 and Q2 is responsible for the markets overall uptrend.

Looking at cumulative data from 2022 brand-wise, Toyota which gained 22.2% in volume is the new leader, followed by Nissan up 15.9% in new sales. Kia rose 20.6% from the previous year.

Mauritius vehicles market in recent years has been characterized by unstable sales registrations, as after 2015’s decline, it immediately recovered in 2016 breaking the 9,000 units threshold. However, in 2017 the market fell down again 4.2%. In 2018, the market signed a record – soaring 23.1% – with registrations at 10,351.

In 2019, the vehicle market further improved, hitting the new All-time record. Indeed, Full-year registrations have been 10,261, down 0.9% from the previous year.
