World Best Selling Executive Cars Ranking in 2025. The BMW 5 Series surged 4 spots into 1st while the Mercedes E Class fell 2 spots into 3rd. The Chevrolet Traverse grew 41.4% and 7 spots into 7th.
We are reporting in this article the Global Ranking (total sales in the 160 countries we track) for the Executive cars, large (and usually luxury) vehicles with a size over the 4.8 meters, in the 3/4/5 doors and wagon.
In the last decade this segment was dominated by two models, the Mercedes E Class and the archrival, the BMW 5 Series.
Looking at YTD figures up to September 2025, the BMW 5 Series reclaims its position as the segment leader. Up 4 spots, it gained 32.6% and secured a share of 5.7%.
In second place ranked the Audi A6 -up 1 spot- with a 5.3% share (+6.3%), followed in third by the Mercedes E Class -down 2 spots- with a 5.1% share (-0.3%).
In fourth place ranked the BMW X5 -down 2 spots- (-10%), followed by the Hyundai Palisade -up 3 spots- in 5th (+37.1%), the Hongqi H5 -up 3 spots- in 6th (+22.4%) and the Chevrolet Traverse -up 7 spots- in 7th (+41.4%).
In eight place the BYD Han -down 2 spots- (-23.7%), ahead of the Toyota Highlander -down 5 spots- in 9th (-26.7%),
Closing the Top 10 there is the Mercedes GLE -down 3 spot- (-13.1%).
